obammy to the people...

"if we dont raise this debt ceiling, the economy is going to collapse. we need to borrow more so we can pay off what we've already spent so we can spend some more so we dont go deeper into debt and then we can cut some spending and go thru the budget line by line and eliminate waste so se can keep this recovery going strong and i can cut the debt in half by the end of my 5th term and then close gitmo and end the wars. in order to do that we have to spend some money. the reublicans want to crash the economy, destroy social security and make you all starve to death. so we need to raise the debt ceiling. thank you."

It sure will! Look at how fantastic our country is doing. Man are we blessed! President Obama is truly our savior!

The car industry has been propped back up, the housing sector has once again been propped back up, unemployment has definitely been going down, the big banks in this country are now the richest they have been in history with more power being granted to them than ever before, and the minimum wage has been raised so all the millions and millions of minimum wage jobs that are being created pay as much as 9 dollars an hour in some places now!

The only thing our recovery can do at this point is get stronger!

To be honest, I really do not care if a debt deal is reached. The path President Obama has put us on will endure any amount of debt....we are doing that good.

The US national debt is pushing 17 trillion.

We are screwed.

Do everything you can to stock up on food, ammo, etc.

Something is going to break.

Cutting our seniors Medicare & Social Security payments so the Rich can keep their large income tax cuts will not improve the economy. It only allows the Rich to move more of their money offshore in the tax saving havens like Romney does. Instead we need to give the seniors and the middle class more money in their pockets to spend instead of more money to the Rich to save.

Each and every one of the idiots in Washington needs to get voted out. BOTH PARTIES !!!! This whole debate is getting out of hand. They jabber, they fight, they call each other names, they point fingers, they take vacations, and in the end,,,, not one DARN things get accomplished. When the people in the country decide to STOP putting so much faith in the rhetoric and thier party of choice, THEN, just maybe, this country can survive. As long as people wear blinders, and do not blame ALL of the politicians, stop labeling all the problems on the opposite side of thier views, we will never find solutions.

Watching ALL of the jerks down in Washington right now is like watching a Nascar race on a 1.5 mile track. It is really exciting when they start, everyone revving engines and smashing the gas peddle. Then they settle into the middle of the race, sort of boring sometimes. Same thing, around a circle, same ones up front, same one behind,,,,,,THEN, what we know is coming happens,,,the crash on the final lap.

As long as we have to be the police of the world and waste money on Wars and have military bases no longer needed over seas the debt will continue. $10 Trillion dollars for 2 wars over that last 10 years. Between $8-10 Billion dollars a year over the next 40 years for the injured service men and women. This country is going bankrupt not because of SS but because we start and fight wars on credit cards. $16 Trillion dollar debt 10 of which comes from 2 wars. Sorry but the truth be told the United States has to get out of the World Police Business. We cannot afford anything because the 2 Wars sunk us. Bin Laden knew they could not defeat the Soviet Union militarily in Afghanistan so he bankrupted them and then came after the US using the same tactics. The Prison system is bleeding us dry as well. Wars & Prisons*****the life out of the economy. Korea & Iran are on the horizon as the next military conflicts. Stop the wars and save money easy fix.

TRUE debt reduction will benefit us in the long term. Short term it will be painful for everyone....just like at home, we do without so we can pay off our bills, but when they are gone, we are free. REMEMBER: the borrower is slave to the lender.

You can't answer this question. It depends on the actual deal that WOULD be reached. Fatty, you nailed the issue on the long range aspect. Thank you. Some posters just don't get it. Raising the debt ceiling means paying our EXISTING bills. If we don't do this, we are ALL screwed! But that doesn't matter to a certain vocal minority. They would rather us all go down the drain, as long as it makes THIS President look bad. To heck with the country!

No we should all just throw up our hands and crane our necks at the sky. It is going to fall any day now. My advise is to buy ammo, oh never mind there isn't any. Oh well see you all at the gun show this weekend.
