WARREN - The Northeast Warren Neighborhood Association and Garfield Area Neighborhood Association will officially combine in March, and the two groups have elected officers.
The members have named Janet Hazlette as president; Rick Ritchie as vice president; Clayton Lorey as treasurer; and Amber Dunn as secretary.
Ritchie said members will review and adopt bylaws at the March 17 meeting set at the Knights of Columbus Hall on East Market Street.
"We will officially merge by that meeting when the new officers will take office," he said.
The associations focus on different projects and maintenence of the eastern sections of Warren. Discussion has included the SS. Peter and Paul School building and what will be done with it.
The group has guest speakers, including Police Chief Erik Merkel, who discussed neighborhood safety and residents watching out for one another at the February meeting.
Matt Martin, executive director of Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership, discussed at a recent meeting how abandoned properties have been beautified in local neighborhoods.
