YOUNGSTOWN - Glennis M. Waller, 91, passed away Friday evening, Feb. 7, 2014, at St. Elizabeth Health Center, Boardman.
Glennis was born June 9, 1922, in Rutherford W.Va., the daughter of Donald Wesley and Blanche May Hatcher Garrett Sr.
She lived most of her life in Lake Milton.
Glennis graduated from Struthers High School and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
She was a beautician for 70 years and a member of Pricetown United Methodist Church for 65 years.
Glennis was a member of the American Legion where she served as past president and the American Legion Auxillary Post 737. She was a Red Cross swimming instructor and a Campfire Girl leader. She also worked at the Board of Elections for 35 years.
Glennis was very active at her church where she was a member of the Missionary Society and superintendent of Sunday School. She enjoyed bowling, crocheting, traveling and camping.
Her husband, George C. Waller, whom she married Sept. 21, 1970, passed away April 25, 1984.
Glennis leaves her two daughters, Janice M. Lloyd of Austintown and Jeanne E. Callow of Pittsburgh; three grandchildren, Shawnna, Robyn, and Melanie; six great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a sister Dorothy (Edson) Rider of Pittsburgh; and many nieces and nephews.
Glennis was also preceded in death by a sister, Florence M. Stoddard and a brother, Donald Wesley Garrett Jr.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Pricetown United Methodist Church.
Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church.
