Shopko to support Falls schools
NEWTON FALLS - Shopko Hometown Foundation has announced its plan to "give back" to its Hometown communities this holiday season, including Newton Falls, with a donation of up to $2,000.
For every signature Shopko Hometown on state Route 534 receives through Dec. 24, its foundation will donate $1 to Newton Falls Exempted Village School District, up to $2,000 per store. The program is being run in the company's 181 stores across the country.
Customers can sign their name once a day, every day to show their support; no donation or purchase is required.
Exploration company makes play in Utica, Marcellus shales
HOUSTON - Magnum Hunter Resources Corporation announced today a $400 million capital expenditure budget for 2014, including approximately $260 million in the Utica Shale and Marcellus Shale plays,
According to EIN Newsdesk, the budget includes the acquisition of mineral leases in the Utica and Marcellus plays. The Company's development plan will be to further delineate its acreage in Monroe, Noble and Washington counties in Ohio and Tyler and Richie counties, West Virginia.
Magnum Hunter expects to operate two to three drilling rigs in Appalachia during 2014, and anticipates drilling approximately 23-25 gross horizontal wells, according to EIN.
Magnum Hunter is a Houston-based independent exploration and production company engaged in the acquisition, development and production of crude oil, natural gas and natural gas liquids, primarily in West Virginia, Ohio, Kentucky and North Dakota.

First Niles Financial remained the same in trading Thursday to close at $6.25 a share. First Place Financial Corp. stood pat at $0.0015 per share. Cortland Bancorp nudged up a nickel to close at $9.90 a share.
