LORDSTOWN HOLDS TREE LIGHTING: Lordstown village will hold a tree-lighting ceremony at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the township park by the fire station off Salt Springs Road. There will be singing and refreshments. The one-room schoolhouse museum will be open at 5:30 p.m. for tours.
RESCUING BIRDS PART OF PROGRAM: The Audubon Society of the Mahoning Valley will hold a program "Rescuing Birds" at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Mill Creek Metroparks Farm, state Route 46, Canfield. Heather Merritt, director of Birds of Prey rehabilitation center, will share information on what it takes to bring birds back to good health after an accident.
GROUP TO MEET: North East Warren Neighborhood Association will meet at 7 p.m. today at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 2860 E. Market St. Warren. Land Bank Program Manager Shawn Carvin, will discuss TNP's management of the Trumbull County Land Bank inventory and the opportunities available for homeowners to return derelict properties to productive use. Discussion will include availability of housing, vacant land, and the practice of strategic demolition and rehab.
YWCA OFFERS MENTORING: The YWCA of Warren's "Step Up Young Women of Excellence" mentoring and leadership development program will be held 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to Friday for ages 16 to 30. An orientation will be held Tuesday with the program beginning on Dec. 2. Topics include self-esteem building, job readiness, employment skills, college tours and community projects. LAWN MOWER WORK: The Girard High School First Robotics team is sponsoring a winterize your lawn mower fundraiser from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the rear parking lot of the high school. Lawn mowers can be brought there or picked up . There is a fee for maintenance work which includes cleaning the mowers, changing the oil, sharperning the blades and adding fuel stabilzer.
