CHAMPION - Mary "Josephine" Nicopolis, 90, passed away Friday, Nov. 8, 2013.
Josephine was born Nov. 4, 1923, in Warren, the daughter of Guy and Raefale Capito.
Josephine was co-owner with her husband of Guy's Place on West Market Street for 35 years. She was a lifelong member of Christ Our King Church.
She enjoyed reading, music, cooking and was well-known for her Sunday dinners with her homemade sauce and lemon chicken. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Josephine was kind-hearted and generous, always helping others without expecting anything in return. She, with her devoted husband, Ted, raised two wonderful sons who went on to become loving husbands, fathers, uncles, grandfathers and friends. They, along with her granddaughters and great-grandchildren, are her legacy.
She is survived by her son, Terry T. (Debra) Nicopolis of Champion; daughter-in-law, Sharon Nicopolis of Champion; two granddaughters, Michelle L. (Michael Gallagher) Nicopolis, Ph.D., of Strongsville and Bernadette L. Nicopolis of Champion; two great-grandchildren, Gregory Michael Papp Jr. and Brooke Makynna Papp; and sister, Anna Marie Pecorelli of Warren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Theodore "Ted" Nicopolis Sr., whom she married July 20, 1944, and who passed away Nov. 20, 2006; son, Theodore "Ted" Nicopolis Jr.; brothers, Gregory D. Capito and Guy J. "Pint" Capito; and sisters, Gloria Young and Antonette "Toni" Capito.
Family and friends may call from 9 a.m. to noon Monday at the Peter Rossi and Son Memorial Chapel in Warren. A service will be held immediately following calling hours at the funeral home, with the Rev. Carl Kish officiating.
Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery, Cortland.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in Josephine's name to St. Vincent DePaul Society, 2415 Niles Road S.E., Warren, OH 44484, or the charity of your choice.
