GROCERY DISTRIBUTION: Deliverance Temple Church, 1849 West Ave. N.W., Warren, in conjunction with Youngstown community Food Center Inc., will be distributing grocery items at 2 p.m. today at the church. Bring state-issued photo ID and utility bill.
TRUMBULL K9 DONATES BEDS: The Trumbull K9 Connection, a 501(c)3 charitable organization advocating for the lost and homeless dogs of Trumbull County, recently donated new beds for the dogs at the Trumbull County Dog Pound.
The funds for these beds came from the sale of Sunrise Discount cards which are available for sale at Winestyle in Howland or by calling Karen Hurst at 330-883-1292 or Mark Rhodes at 724-344-0228. Sales will help with future endeavors to help the dogs.
MISSIONS TO HOST SAFE ALTERNATIVE: The Warren Family Mission will hold its annual safe alternative to trick-or-treating from 5 to 7 p.m. today at 361 Elm Road, Warren. All children must be accompanied by an adult. The mission will provide games, activities and candy for children ages 1 to 12. Children are encouraged to come in a non-scary costume. There will be a contest for the most creative costume and a prize will be given.
YMCA OFFERS SWIM LESSONS: The Trumbull County YMCA will be offering swim lessons in November. There are three sessions - Monday night or Thursday night or Saturday morning. For more information call 330-394-1565. Today is the sign-up deadline.
SERVICES PROJECT COLLECTING FOOD: North Mar Battaloon 1180 is holding a service project where boys in grades sixth to 12th are collecting canned and non-perishable food for delivery to the Warren Family Mission for delivery in November of food baskets for needy families and meals served at the mission.
WYSU MEMBERSHIP DRIVE SUCCESS: WYSU-FM raised $115,454 during its recently completed fall membership drive. A total of 1,123 listeners contributed to the station during the drive, including 116 new members. The $115,454 total meets the goal for the drive, and is the second-highest amount ever raised during a WYSU fund drive.
MARKET INSIDE: The Northside Farmers' Market will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Youngstown. The market will move inside the church as the weather turns colder. For information, call Jim at 330-518-6970.
MISSION TO HOLD PRODUCE GIVE-AWAY: The Warren Family Mission in conjunction with Second Harvest Food Bank will hold a produce giveaway from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. this Friday at the 361 Elm Road location. HOME BUYER WORKSHOP OFFERED: YNDC and Chase Bank are offering a free new home buyer workshop to be held 3 to 5 p.m. on Friday, at Chase, Youngstown Main Branch, 6 Federal Plaza West, first floor, Youngstown.
The workshop will focus on answering five key questions for prospective home buyers: "Am I ready to buy?" "What do I need to know before I apply for a loan?" "What do I need to do before I start shopping for a home?" "How do I go about finding the perfect home and making an offer?" and "What do I do after my offer is accepted?"
