WINDHAM - James D. Smith, 60, of Windham, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013.
He was born April 10, 1953, in Pikeville, Ky., to James H. and C. Rita Maynard Smith.
Jim served in the U.S. Air Force for more than 10 years during the Vietnam era. He was a machinist by trade and liked to tinker with electronics. He enjoyed movies, TV, working with cars and billiards.
Jim is survived by his sisters, Diane (Ron) Martin of Twinsburg, Sandy (Richard) Hartung of Geneva and Sheila (David) Lester of Garrettsville; brothers Delmar Smith of Warren and Vaughn K. Smith of Cleveland; a daughter, Charlene (Ross) Goddard Sloan of Bristolville; and grandchildren Kayla, Caleb, MacKenzie and Ian Sloan.
Friends may join the family for visitation 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday with service immediately following at 5 p.m. at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville, OH 44231.
Interment will be held 2:30 p.m. Monday in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
