MONROE, N.C. - John Jay Marshall, 76, formerly of Austintown, died Saturday morning, Oct. 12, 2013, after a brief battle with cancer.
He was born Jan. 20, 1937, in Monroe, Mich., the son of Jay and Ruth Oetjens Marshall.
John served in the U.S. Army as a combat engineer and retired from Marshall Truck Scales, which he owned and operated.
Survivors include two children, Terri Chitty of Fort Worth, Texas, and Jay Marshall of Monroe, N.C.; two sisters, Carol Munson and Margorie Perry; a brother, Tom Marshall; and three grandsons and a great-grandson.
John was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Marshall.
Funeral services will be held noon Saturday at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, where family and friends will be received from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
