CORTLAND - Members of the Mosquito Lake Greenway Project are conducting an online survey to assess awareness of a project to encircle the southern part of the lake with a greenway to be used by pedestrians and bicyclists.
Organizers said that the survey is aimed at gauging the sense of community within the Mosquito Lake area of Cortland, Bazetta and Mecca, the perception of their development potential, and awareness of the Mosquito Lake Greenway project.
"We're looking for a sampling from the Mosquito Lake Communities, Trumbull County and anyone who has lived in or is familiar with the area. It's not only important how we see ourselves but also how others see us," Michael Swiatkwich, founder and chair of the Mosquito Lake Greenway Project, said.
A greenway is essentially a linear park that commonly has a paved section. Plans include connecting to the Western Reserve Greenway which is the Trumbull County section of the Great Ohio Lake to River Greenway that runs between Ashtabula and East Liverpool.
The survey can be found online at www.surveymonkey.com/s/K8FGYFV, or at the Cortland, Bazetta and Maplewood schools websites.
It will be available for approximately 30 days to anyone who wants to respond. The results will be published shortly after, according to project members.
