POLAND - James W. Foster, 86, formerly of Niles, passed away Monday, Oct. 7, 2013, at Hospice House in Poland.
Jim was born Dec. 23, 1926, to the late John Foster and Marie Brunner in Richmond, Ind.
Jim grew up in Howland and was raised by his stepfather, James P. Jones, and mother, Marie. He joined the U.S. Army Air Corps after graduating from high school and served during World War II as an ammunition handler.

Jim worked as a Howland school bus driver and retired in 1983 from Republic Steel. Jim also was the assistant chief for the Howland Volunteer Fire Department for more than 15 years.
He loved NASCAR and the Cleveland Browns. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Jim is survived by his wife of 25 years, Marlyn Foster; sons, Jeffrey L. (Kelly) Foster and James C. (Kim) Foster; stepchildren, David (Andrea) Roberts and Tawnya Roberts; grandchildren, Drew, Tyler and Chris Foster, and Natalie and David Roberts; and sister, Alice (Norm) O'Neill.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Earl J. Foster.
Calling hours will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Friday at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel, 180 Garfield Drive, Warren. A funeral service will be held noon that same day at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Crown Hill Burial Park with military honors.
