I am appalled by the insensitivity of our duly elected congressmen and senators for not working ''together'' to prevent the shutdown of most of our government offices. I am saddened by the loss of statesmanship among our duly elected public officials. Abraham Lincoln is probably rolling over in his grave at this sad state of governmental affairs.
I cannot understand the logic behind the two party systems' antagonistic agendas with regards to what is best for us American people. It seems to me that they are more interested in their selfish desires to remain in office than to fight for the rights of individual Americans.
Yes, I do not like Obamacare or the Affordable Healthcare Act of 2010. Unfortunately, the ruling party (Democrats) passed it as a law. Even our supposedly esteemed Supreme Court did not touch it to repeal it. Personally, I would like to see our Congress work at deconstructing the written law and hit the essential aspects of Obamacare that are unfair and unmanageable instead of trying to repeal it. Even President Obama hinted at the possibility of "negotiations" for certain parts of his law. So why not call his bluff?
It is now up to us American people to take the challenge to consider whether or not we should re-elect our current crop/ crap of elected officials in the coming elections.
We should stop practicing insanity, which is voting for the same people and hoping for a different outcome.
