WARREN - A 66-year-old Leavittsburg man was being held in lieu of $250,000 bond after pleading not guilty Thursday to sexual attacks on two girls that are known to him.
John Grantz of Burnett Road was named in a secret indictment, charging him with four counts of rape that carry potential life sentences and two felony counts of rape along with three counts of gross sexual imposition.
The attacks have occurred periodically since 2006 according to indictments. The rape charges all pertain to one of the victims who is now a teenager. She is the older of the two victims.
Grantz' wife Patricia, 67, also was indicted and pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor charge of endangering children after indictments accuse her of violating the duty of care of the girls.
Grantz was scheduled for a pretrial Oct. 3 before Trumbull Common Pleas Judge Ronald Rice.
Details in the case were reported to Warren Township police July 27 and Children Services investigators became involved at that time, according to assistant county prosecutor Diane Barber.
