WEATHERSFIELD - Police confirmed that one juvenile has been charged and two others could still be arrested in connection with the sexual assault of a teenage girl earlier this month.
Weathersfield police Chief Joseph Consiglio said the girl's mother reported the matter Sept. 9 and that the boy, who is charged with sexual imposition, unlawful restraint and assault, is being held at the Trumbull County Juvenile Justice Center. He was arrested a few days after the alleged incident was reported, police said.
Police said they were called to an apartment on Forest Ridge in reference to a sexual misconduct report and completed a preliminary investigation at the scene, according to a Weathersfield police report. Reports state two of the males are 15 and 16. However, the ages of the girl and the third boy have not been made clear.
Meanwhile, residents of the small Forest Ridge Apartments complex have expressed concerns about tensions rising in the neighborhood.
Police confirmed a mother of one of the boys accused was arrested this week on intimidation charges after a confrontation with the family of the girl he is accused of assaulting.
The mother of the girl, who is not being named to protect her daughter's identity, told a Tribune Chronicle reporter on Wednesday her family has been harassed, threatened and intimidated by community members.
