HOWLAND - Gerald Martin Sr., 68, went peacefully home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013, at his residence.
Jerry was born Oct. 30, 1944, in Orient, Pa. He was the son of Dorothy Saunders and the grandson of Richard and Blanche Martin Bosley.
He married his high school sweetheart, Evelyn Joyce Baer, on June 13, 1964. Together, the Martins had six children and were married for 32 years until the Lord took Joyce home on March 5, 1996.

Afterwards, Jerry was blessed to find another best friend, Malinda Kay Huseman, whom he married on Nov. 7, 1998.
Jerry worked in maintenance at General Motors in Euclid and in Lordstown, and was a member of UAW Local 1714. Jerry retired from GM in 2000, after 32 years of service.
Jerry also was a member of Liberty Bible Church in Vienna.
He loved to spend his earlier years fishing, hunting and coaching baseball and softball with the Howland Athletic Club. In his later years, Jerry took up the art of woodworking and made rocking chairs and horses for all of his grandchildren who will forever be cherished.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Malinda Kay Huseman-Martin; his six children, Gerald (Debra) Martin Jr. of Howland, Lynn (Philip) Duecaster of Howland, Kimberly (Jack) Stephens of Cortland, Lisa Green of Akron, Richard (Janine) Martin of Lordstown and David (Shawnna) Martin of Howland; his two stepsons, Paul (Becky) Huseman of Cleveland and Gary Huseman of Cleveland; his 14 grandchildren, Shane (Caitlin) Martin of Warren, Aron and Caleb Martin of Howland, Brittney (Daniel) O'Connell of Howland, Karrick Gillespie of Cortland, Kayelin Curto of Akron, Isaac, Evelyn and Urban Martin of Lordstown, David and Joscelyn Martin of Howland, and Rachel, Lauren-Marie and Melanie Husemen of Cleveland; his great-granddaughter, Rylan O'Connell of Howland; and by Laurie Moore and her children, Michael Middleman, and Meagan and Makenna Moore, whom he loved as if they were his own.
Jerry is also survived by his three brothers, Robert Ford of Virginia Beach, Va., and James and Kenneth Saunders of Richmond, Va.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Joyce Martin; his mother, Dorothy Saunders; his grandparents, Richard and Blanche Bosley; and a brother, Joseph Glista.
Jerry will be sadly missed by so many who have called him a friend throughout all the years.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Staton-Borowski Funeral Home, 962 North Road N.E., Warren, OH 44483, while funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Liberty Bible Church, 2111 Sodom Hutchings Road, Vienna, OH 44473, with Pastor Allan McCracken. Friends may call one hour before the service beginning at 10 a.m.
Burial will be in Kerr Cemetery, 1240 Salt Springs Road, Mineral Ridge, OH 44440.
