CORTLAND - Michael Lee Murphy, 62, of Cortland, lost his courageous battle with cancer on Friday, Sept. 6, 2013.
He was born Oct. 9, 1950, in Warren, the son of the late Woodrow W. and Beatrice Hause Murphy.
Michael was an inspector at Delphi Packard Electric for 32 years and served as an IUE-CWA 717 representative.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines Corps, serving in the Vietnam War.
He was a member of Moose Lodge Chapter 341 of Cortland.
Michael is survived by his companion, Joan Lewis of Cortland; daughters Kelly Baker of Medina and Tamara Murphy (Bernhard Klinder) of Cleveland; sons Benjamin (Darren Freetage) Murphy of Medina, Jesse Murphy of Niles, Joshua (Megan) Murphy of Warren and Vincent (Kirsten Hacker) Murphy of Warren; grandchildren Corban Baker, Kaleb Baker, Kaitlin Miller and Liam Murphy; and one great-grandchild, Ariana Baker.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother David Murphy; and an infant sister.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Monday in West Mecca Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Carl W. Hall Funeral Home.
Interment will be in West Mecca Cemetery, Mecca, followed by full military honors.
