Kudos to Al Novak for carrying a picket sign for the Commercial Food Workers Union outside a new foreign-owned store.
Delhaize of Belgium, which put 4,900 employees out of work in the South when it closed hundreds of Food Lion stores, seems to be on the Tribune's quality company list.
Let's see, they pay minimum (low tax) wage, part-time without benefits. Seems like a company the Trib would support.
Why didn't the Trib state in its disparaging ''Onion'' against Al these facts?
I will gladly carry a picket sign beside Al any time.
If people had any desire to investigate via the Web just why Food Lion closed so many stores, I guarantee they wouldn't set foot in the new store.
Way to go, Al Novak. No Onions from me.
My family shops where we know the food is quality and the wages bring in more tax dollars than those jobs the Tribune loves so much.
