MISSION SEEKS DONATIONS: The Warren Family Mission will hold its annual school supply and bookbag giveaway later this month. The mission needs bookbags and school supplies for children of all ages. The mission was able to help 400 children last year and hopes to help that many again this year. FUNDRAISER FOR KOMEN WALK: A "Crazzy Bra Day" will be held from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Refuge, 1155 Churchill Hubbard Road, Liberty. Team "Wonder Twins" is raising awareness of breast cancer and will walk in the Susan G. Komen three-day / 60 mile walk in San Diego in November. The event will include live bands, comedians, a magician, games, Chinese Auction, 50/50 raffle and a crazy bra contest with a prize being awarded for the most creative bra (please keep it respectable). FREE SEMINAR OFFERED: As a continuing part of its 180th anniversary celebration, the Kinsman Presbyterian Church will host "Hoping for the Best, Planning for the Rest," a free seminar dealing with the reality of aging at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. Sponsored by Lake Vista, a panel from a variety of disciplines will present information on the topics of spiritual issues, probate, funeral planning, home health / hospice, retirement community living and organ and tissue donation. BUBBLE FUN: OH WOW! The Roger and Gloria Jones Children's Center for Science and Technology in Youngstown will hold "Bubbles" from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday for preschool to fourth grade. Children will learn bubble tricks and see what it is like to be inside a bubble.
TOURNAMENT FOR LOCAL CHARITIES: The Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport and Allegiant Airlines have partnered with the National Dodgeball League to sponsor a one-day dodgeball tournament on Aug. 24 at Girard High School, 1244 Shannon Road, to support local charities. The tournament, which is open to any team or group wishing to participate, will donate 50 percent of the entry fee (per team) to Youngstown Air Force Reserve, Friends of Families program, with the other 50 percent going to the winning teams' charity. The Second Harvest Food Bank will accept non-perishable donations at the door. Teams sign in at 11 a.m., and tournament play will begin at noon. Participants must be at least 18 years of age and each team must have a minimum of two females or two males. Groups or teams wishing to participate must register by Tuesday online at www.dodgehighfares.com.
