CORTLAND - The Trumbull Soil and Water Conservation District is seeking applications from individuals interested in serving on the SWCD Board of Supervisors, which handles conservation issues and protection of natural resources.
Supervisors are volunteer nonpaid public officials who govern the SWCD district. The supervisors hold monthly meetings at 8:30 a.m. on the third Friday of the month and also convene for special meetings and a couple state conferences throughout the year.
Mike Wilson, executive director of SWCD, said five board members serve staggered three-year terms. There is one board position up for election for the term beginning Jan. 1.
Any county resident 18 or older is eligible by either filing a petition with the SWCD or by being named by the nominating committee.
To be considered by the nominated committee, submit a letter of interest with background to the Trumbull SWCD, Attention: Nominating Committee, 520 W. Main St., Suite 3, Cortland 44410 by Wednesday.
Wilson said the nominating committee may also hold interview session.
To be a candidate through petition, submit a petition with at least 10 signatures of electors by Aug. 17. Petition forms are available at the Trumbull SWCD office, or by calling Kathy at 330-637-2056, Ext. 3.
