WARREN -- A silent auction of original James Friend watercolors will be held next month at Warren G. Harding High School, where the artist was a longtime educator.
Running from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 1 in the school cafetorium, about 70 pieces will be available, including scenes of lighthouses, and area churches, schools and historical buildings. A reception with refreshments and Friend family members also will be held.
Friend, formerly of Warren, died Dec. 14, 2012, at his home in Fairmont, W.Va. He was 74.
