The Regional Chamber was given an economic development award for its help getting Houston-based Exterran to build a $13 million production equipment fabrication plant in Youngstown.
The Business Attraction Award (for more than 100 employees) was given to the chamber Thursday in Cleveland at Team NEO / Inside Business annual economic development awards dinner.
The plant is dedicated to the fabrication of production equipment used to treat or otherwise process natural gas and oil after it is extracted from the ground such as separation, dehydration, natural gas conditioning, oil treating and conditioning, filtration and air emissions control.
Officials cut the ribbon on the 65,000-square-foot facility on Salt Springs Road in May.
Others who played a role and noted at the event were representatives from Youngstown and Mahoning and Columbiana Training Association. Youngstown gave the site to Exterran and provided a tax abatement for the construction and MCTA gave work force assistance and training funds to the company.
