CHAMPION - Leon M. "Short" Walk, 71, passed Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren surrounded by his loving family.
Leon was born on June 6, 1942, in Clearfield, Pa., the son of Dorse and Mary Duck Walk. He obtained his formal education in Clearfield where he attended Clearfield High School.
Leon was inducted into the United States Army on April 6, 1964. He served in the 2d Battalion 30th Air Defense artillery regiment of the Fourth United States Army. Leon received his honorable discharge on April 5, 1966.
On June 25, 1966, Leon M. Walk and Darlene E. Wisor were united in marriage. The couple recently celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary.
Leon obtained employment at the General Motors Corp. Lordstown Plant. Following 28 years of service, he retired in 1994.
He was a member of Champion Christian Church.
Loving memories of Leon will be carried on by his caring family, his wife, Darlene; his sons, Alan Walk and Leon (Robin) Walk, all of Champion; his two grandchildren whom he adored, Anthony Walk and Natalie Walk; his brothers, Dorse (Judy) Walk, Duane (Charlene) Walk and Roy (Cindy) Walk; and his nieces, nephews and cousins who were all special to him.
Preceding Leon were his parents, Dorse and Mary, and his baby sister, Carlene.
A service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Champion Christian Church with the Rev. Ken Hopkins officiating.
The Trumbull County Veterans Honor Guard will honor Leon for his service to this country with a military service.
The family requests that material tributes may be made in memory of Leon to the Champion Township Fire Department, 139 W. Champion St., Warren, OH 44483, or to Champion Christian Church.
Arrangements for Leon were entrusted to the Borowski Funeral Service and Oak Meadow Cremation Services.
