WARNER ROBINS, Ga. - Francis W. Evans, 92, passed away Saturday, June 22, 2013.
He was born June 5, 1921, in Masury, to the late David and Marie Evans.
Francis served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and was in the U.S. Army Reserves for 18 years. He retired in 1978 from Republic Steel in Warren and moved to Bradenton, Fla., after retirement.
He resided the last seven years with his daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Jim Meeker, in Warner Robins, Ga.
He enjoyed watching the birds in the back yard, playing on his computer and spending time playing with his faithful dog, Buffy.
Survivors include his brother, Robert Evans of Port Orange, Fla.; daughters, Cathy (James) Meeker of Warner Robins, Ga., Sharon (Alan Jacobs) Evans of Seneca, S.C., and Barbara (Arthur) Kohn of Warren; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Francis was preceded in death by an infant son, Richard; his first wife, Alta Walton Evans (1945-1996); second wife, Mozelle Halfacre Evans (2002-2004); and by a sister, Dorothy Ambrose Royal.
Per his wishes, there will be no services.
