CORTLAND - Isla W. Bailey, 81, died at 10:50 a.m. Sunday, June 9, 2013, at Hospice House in Poland.
She was born Jan. 16, 1932, is Harrisville, Pa., the daughter of the late Loyal and Mae Dawson Weigle.
Mrs. Bailey retired from Lordstown GM in 1986 after 30 years of service, and because of her strong work ethic, Isla returned to school and attained her LPN from the Choffin Center and worked her entire nursing career at Renaissance North Nursing Home in Warren.
Isla was a member of the Cortland Christian Church and she enjoyed visiting with all of her friends.
Survivors include her children, Sharon (James) Phillips of Farmdale and Joan (Jerry) Enderson of Plattsmouth, Neb.; two stepsons, James (Pam) Bailey of Grove City, Pa., and John (Marlene) Bailey of Texas; two grandsons, James Phillips and Sheldon Phillips; one great-granddaughter, Sophia Lynne Phillips; and three siblings, June (Jack) Allen of Midlothian, Texas, Dale (Lou) Weigle of Mars, Pa., and Alvin (Joan) Weigle of Cortland.
Other than her parents, Isla was preceded in death by her husband, John Bailey; four sisters; and one brother.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Friday at the Cortland Christian Church, where family and friends may visit one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Donald P. Barnes will celebrate Isla's life.
On Monday, Mrs. Bailey will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Harrisville Praire Cemetery in Pennsylvania. A committal service will take place at 11 a.m.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Lane Family Funeral Home, Shafer-Winans Chapel, in Cortland.
