Hubbard City Council approved an ordinance that would allow the creation and installation of backflow and cross connection devices for its water system at the regular meeting held April 15.
According to officials, a backflow system would provide an effective means for protecting the public water system from contamination due to the backflow of contaminants through the water service connection into the public water system.
In addition to this ordinance, council also authorized the Board of Control to advertise for bids for the 2013 street resurfacing program. Streets to be resurfaced will be determined once the bidding process is complete.
Council heard the first reading of an ordinance requesting certification to enforce the residential building code for one, two and three family dwellings within city limits and heard the first reading of an ordinance authorizing the service director to certify delinquent utility bills to the Trumbull County auditor for collection.
The next regular meeting of Hubbard City Council will be at 7 p.m. May 6 in council chambers at the city municipal building.
