NORTH JACKSON - One person is dead and four others injured after a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 76 Saturday afternoon, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Emergency crews responded to the scene of the accident about 3 p.m. at mile marker 59, one mile west of the Interstate-76 / Interstate 80 split. According to the patrol, the driver of a Nissan Acura was unable to stop and struck the back of a Toyota Camry that was stopped due to a construction zone.
One person died and three others were injured in the Camry. The driver of the Acura also was injured, the patrol reported.
The injured were transported to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown, where their condition was not known late Saturday.
I-76 eastbound was closed for several hours as safety crews worked to clear the site.
The names of the drivers and passengers were not being released late Saturday and the crash remains under investigation.
