YOUNGSTOWN - One man is dead and another wounded after a shooting late Thursday night at an apartment on the East Side.
Keil'n Thurston, 20, was shot about 9:30 p.m. outside an apartment on the 700 block of Kendis Circle. He died while being transported to the hospital, reports said.
The surviving victim, James Merchant, 18, suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was transported to St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Police said at least one person was in custody being questioned about the shooting.
According to police reports, the two victims were on their way to pick up a cell phone charger in an apartment when multiple gunshots rang out.
Youngstown police Chief Rod Foley told Tribune Chronicle news partner WYTV 33 he believes the men were ambushed and that a shooting earlier in the week may be related.
"We think the gunfire came from the tree line," Foley said. "There were shots two or three days ago, so we think this is an ongoing feud."
This marks the seventh homicide in Youngstown this year.
