After operating a number of entities worldwide under various names, including V&M, Vallourec & Mannesmann in June will begin operations under the sole brand name Vallourec.
What has been known as V&M Star, Youngstown's newest tubular mill, is among the companies that will operate under the new common name and logo.
A company announcement released Wednesday said the new single brand and visual identity will reinforce the company's "global leadership and support its growth strategy."
Vallourec will dedicate its newest local addition, a seamless pipe mill during a media event June 12 at the Youngstown plant. The billion dollar investment created the company's first fully integrated site in the nation combining steel making, pipe rolling, heat treatment, threading, inspection, storage and shipping.
The French-based Vallourec group originally was formed in the late 19th century through numerous company mergers. The joint-venture Vallourec & Mannesmann Tubes was created in 1997.
"We want the Vallourec brand to be the benchmark for performance, reliability and safety," Philippe Crouzet, chairman of Vallourec's management board, said Wednesday in a prepared statement. "The adoption of a single brand is also a means to unite our 23,000 employees around a common culture based on innovation and excellence, all of which will further strengthen us in achieving our ambitious growth targets."
Vallourec manufactures tubular steel used in energy, particularly the oil and gas drilling industry. It has a presence in more than 20 countries.
