WARREN - A series of farmers markets will be held in Courthouse Square throughout the summer beginning Friday.
The Lake-to River Food Cooperative and Humility of Mary Health Partners are teaming up to bring fresh, locally grown produce to its employees and neighbors, according to a joint announcement.
The St. Joseph Farmers Market will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on the third Friday of the month from June through October. The exception will be the first market, which will be held on the last Friday of May.
"We appreciate the willingness of HMHP to partner with Lake-to-River for a third year,'' said Melissa Miller, marketing manager for the co-op.
''It is a really great collaboration that serves our communities by helping get fresh food to our neighbors. We are also happy to be collaborating with the Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership," Miller said.
Farmers markets also are being held in Youngstown in the second-floor dining rooms of St. Elizabeth Health Center. Markets will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on the fourth Friday of the month. The first was last week.
Vendors at both markets will accept Ohio Direct EBT cards. At the St.Elizabeth market, WIC will also be accepted as well as payroll deduction for HMHP employees.
