WARREN - City police said a 41-year-old man did not provide any information when they asked him who shot him in the leg and came close to shooting his girlfriend and her 3-year-old daughter late Thursday.
Warren police were dispatched about 11 p.m. to 268 Ohio Ave. N.W. in reference to a shooting. They found Marlon E. Jones, 41, of Red Fox Run Drive N.W., lying in a large pool of blood on the kitchen floor, according to a police report. Police said they could see Jones had a large wound on the inside of his right thigh.
Jones was coherent and asked officers for water several times, a Warren police report states. However, police said Jones did not respond when they asked him if he knew who shot him.
He was taken to Trumbull Memorial Hospital. An update on his condition was not available on Friday. A Warren police report indicated he suffered major injury.
Jones' girlfriend told police she and her daughter were sitting on a couch directly in front of the window and Jones was on the another couch when shots were fired into the house. She said she grabbed her daughter and went to the ground.
The 22-year-old woman told police she and Jones have been together for about five years and that she "doesn't know what he does on the streets, but he doesn't do anything at the house."
She told police Jones had been arguing with someone the last couple of weeks, but she did not know his name.
Police found several bullet holes in the front living room area of the house. The glass on the front door was shattered and there were bullet holes in the large front window, the police report states.
