GARDENING DAYS SET FOR WEEKEND: A volunteer work day will be held starting at 9 a.m. today at Packard Park greenhouse and at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Laird Community Garden on Laird Avenue S.E. across from the Warren water department. Work will be done to fill raised beds.
On June 1, a plant and seed giveaway will be held at the gardens. Anyone interested in having a raised bed instead of a garden plot should contact Sheila Calko. Materials for the raised beds must be paid for by the gardeners.

FARM MARKET PLANNED: The St. Joseph / Warren Farmers' Market will be held from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. May 31, with free parking in the parking deck. Vendors and producers who are considered regional (northeast Ohio and western Pennsylvania) farmers and growers, their family members, partners, employees or co-op group members are welcome.
LIBERTY GROUP TO BEAUTIFY: The Liberty in Bloom organization will hold a planting day from 10 a.m. to noon today, with those participating asked to meet on Liberty Street and park in the parking lot opposite the Days Inn and Suites. The group will also meet from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Bessie's Garden for work on the small triangle beds, which need weeded, and Sunday at the Fortune Garden fence line to plant vines and possibly two smaller Interstate 80 beds.
CAMPAIGN ENDS: The General Motors Corp. Lordstown Complex ended its annual March of Dimes campaign on Thursday during the 17th annual UAW-GM All American Bike Show. Approximately 50 motorcycles are registered for the event and are on display through 3 p.m. today.
In addition, a $5,000 Plant City Grant from the GM Foundation will be presented to the March of Dimes Northern Ohio Chapter. This year, the GM Foundation will provide $1.6 million in funding to nearly 200 organizations in 45 plant cities where GM employees live and work as part of the GM Foundation Plant City Grant Initiative.
