CORTLAND - Shirley G. Gosser, 78, passed away Monday, May 13, 2013, at her residence.
Shirley was born Oct. 27, 1934, in Youngstown, the daughter of the late George and Mary Goldberg Gerke.
Shirley was a graduate of Niles McKinley High School and a 1955 graduate of Trumbull Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She was employed by Warren City Schools as a registered nurse for 27 years. She was an active member of Ohio Association of School Nurses and Central Christian Church, serving as deacon. She was also an active volunteer as a "Pink Lady" at Trumbull Memorial Hospital and the Friends of the Warren Library book sales. Shirley enjoyed being a wife and mother as well as spending time with family and friends.
Memories of Shirley will be carried on by her second husband, Roger Gosser of Cortland, whom she married Nov. 11, 1986. She will also be sadly missed by her children, Kimberly Adgate of Cortland, John Adgate Jr. of Fort Myers, Fla., Roger Gosser Jr. of Baltimore and Jill (Thomas) Felicetty of Lordstown; a brother, William (Patricia) Gerke; and grandchildren, Brittney Adgate, and Michelle and Brett Felicetty.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband, Jack Adgate, whom she married Jan. 7, 1956, and who passed away Sept. 4, 1985.
Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at McFarland & Son Funeral Home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Central Christian Church in Warren with the Rev. Steven Brown officiating. Services of final committal will follow in Pineview Memorial Park in Warren.
