WARREN - Jon J. Cverna, 73, passed away quietly Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at his residence.
He was born Oct. 6, 1939, in Lorain, the only child of the late John "Jack" and Helen Zelina Cverna.
Jon was a graduate of St. Mary's High School in 1957 and earned a bachelor of science in electrical engineering from Case Institute of Technology in 1961. He then went on to work at Wean Engineering for 31 years before his retirement.
He was a member of St. Mary's Church in Warren. He loved music and even played several instruments.
He was fascinated by technology, computers and was an avid amateur (ham) radio operator #K8AK, having kept his license until his death. He was a member of the Amateur Radio Relay League and the Navy MARS (Military Affiliate Radio System).
Memories of Jon will be carried on by his numerous cousins in Pennsylvania and Ohio. He will be sadly missed by many dear friends located locally, over the Internet and his ham radio contacts.
Calling hours for Jon are from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at McFarland & Son Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 232 Seneca N.E., Warren, OH 44481, with the Rev. Bernard Schmalzried officiating.
Final committal service will be held in All Souls Cemetery Chapel, Cortland.
