GIRARD - Joseph William Tait, 47, passed away early Saturday, May 4, 2013, at his home. A cause of death is pending.
Joe was born Dec. 8, 1965, in Struthers, the son of Alice Tait of Struthers and the late Robert Tait.
He graduated from Struthers High School and immediately following graduation he enlisted in the Army Reserves where he served for 12 years.
After completing his service, Joe enrolled and graduated from the New Castle School of Trades where he went on to become employed by Coca Cola Enterprises for 18 years as a service technician.
Joe was a loving husband and devoted father who lived every day for his wife and kids. Generous and kind-hearted, he was the type of man who would go out of his way to help anyone at the drop of a dime.
Joe's passion for sports led him to coach his children throughout their youth in various sports including football and baseball, where he was known as "Mad Dog." He was a die-hard Ohio State and Pittsburgh Steelers fan, as well as a NASCAR enthusiast.
Joe is survived by his beautiful wife of 26 years, the former Teresa Herrick, of Girard; and his sons, Joey, 24, of Akron, and Tim, 21, of Cincinnati; as well as his older brother Robert, 51, of Struthers. Joe's extended family of in-laws, aunts and uncles all loved him and will miss him.
As generous as Joe was in life, his generosity continued after life as he was an organ donor.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that monetary donations in Joe's name be mailed to Joseph Tait Memorial in care of Farmers National Bank at 121 N. State St., Girard, OH, 44420.
In lieu of a traditional funeral service, everyone is welcome to join Joe's family for a memorial celebration of his life at his home at 469 E. Liberty St., Girard, on Wednesday, May 8, 2013, starting at 11 a.m. and continuing throughout the day.
