MINERAL RIDGE - George M. Ault, 87, passed away early Sunday, April 21, 2013, surrounded by his loving family.
Born Dec. 4, 1925, in Mineral Ridge, he was the son of Homer and Daisy Lear Ault.
He served our country in the U.S. Army during World War II and earned several ribbons and medals of honor, including six Bronze Stars, a Purple Heart with two oak leaf clusters and the World War II Victory Medal.
George worked as a self-employed carpenter and with Local 171 for 43 years. He retired in 1990. He was a member of the Girard VFW, and a former member of the Eagles in Niles and Carpenters Local Union 171.
Survivors include his daughters, Debra (Dallas) Swaro of New Concord and Georgia Ault of Mineral Ridge; son, David (Kimberly) Ault of Mineral Ridge; five grandchildren, Lori (Robert) Feyko, Brandy (Brent) McLaughlin, Derek Swaro, Madaline (Sean) McIntyre and Levi German; great-grandchildren, Skyler, Sawyer Jones, Bobby Feyko, Konlan, Korynn, Klaire McInyre, Landon and twin babies McLaughlin due this July; brother, Robert Ault of Mineral Ridge; several nieces and nephews; and Robert D. Rhodes, who was like a son to him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Kenneth; and Betty Shaffer Ault, mother of his children and love of his life.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Mineral Ridge Chapel. A funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
Interment will follow in Kerr Cemetery.
