WARREN - Jimmie Horace Warner, 71, of Warren, passed away on April 10, 2013.
Jimmie was born Feb. 28, 1942, in Panama City, Fla., the son of Horace and Neathel (Thornton) Warner.
He was a 1959 graduate of Crenshaw County Training School in Luverne, Ala.
Jimmie held the position of deacon at Good Hope Baptist Church and was employed as a greeter at Wal-Mart.
He served as private first class in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1961.
Jimmie is survived by his loving wife and partner of 32 years, Annette (Thomas) Warner; five daughters, Marilyn Dorsey Kelson of Warner Robins, Ga., Stephanie (Reuben) Warner Shaw of Warren, Ranessa Banks and Tenesha Banks of Cleveland, and Nichelle Robinson of Warren; eight grandchildren, Darita Rios, Reuben D. Shaw, Tyler Shaw, Caleb Shaw, Joseph Sarjeant, Joelle Banks, Bryce Banks, Nakira Robinson and Keyuari Lowery; three great-grandsons; one adoring and adored sister, Equilla Lowery of Louisville, Ky.; two sisters-in-law, Ethel Pugh and Francesca Davenport; two brothers-in-law, Joseph Thomas and Jimmy Thomas of Troy, Ala.; and one special aunt, Geraldine ''Koot'' (Thornton) Jones of Warren.
Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law, Nathaniel Lowery of Louisville, Ky.
Jimmie enjoyed fishing, hunting, cooking, gardening, painting (oil and acrylic), woodworking, writing poetry and western movies. He especially enjoyed spending time with friends and family. He will be missed by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and a countless number of friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. April 17, 2013, at New Freedom Missionary Baptist Church, 1590 Tod Ave.
Friends can call at the home of his wife, Annette Warner, 2362 Palmyra Road and his cousin, Andrew Thornton, 2362 Risher Road.
Professional services of comfort were handled by the Sterling-McCullough Williams Funeral Home.
