Man picked up on homicide warrant
NILES - A routine traffic stop this week resulted in the capture of a man facing murder charges in Alabama.
Ladarius Cole, 20, of Birmingham, Ala., was taken into custody Tuesday by Niles police on a homicide warrant out of Tuskegee, Ala. He was being held at the Trumbull County Jail awaiting extradition.
According to reports, Cole is charged with killing a man during a 2009 drive-by shooting.
About 1:21 a.m., a vehicle was pulled over for speeding in front of Family Dollar at 353 Robbins Ave. Cole was a passenger in the Chevrolet Cavalier. He told the officer his name and Social Security number, which led to the officer later finding the warrant.
The driver in Tuesday's incident, Carlos D. Huff, 18, of Warren, was issued a citation for operating a vehicle without a valid driver's license.
