A Warren man wanted in connection with a homicide last week in Warren Township was being held without bond in North Carolina on Monday as Trumbull County officials made plans to pick him up.
Law enforcement in Greensboro, N.C., confirmed they were just waiting for police here to arrive and take Patrick Lawson Heltzel, 20, 3230 Atlantic St., Warren, into custody. He was being held in jail in Guilford County, N.C.
Heltzel was picked up Friday night after Warren Township police issued an alert for him and a stolen vehicle.
Warren Township Lt. Don Bishop declined to elaborate on the case when reached by telephone at his office on Monday except to say he was working on getting Heltzel back to the area.
North Carolina officials said they had no reason to hold Heltzel in Greensboro because he wasn't wanted for any crimes there. Although he was held without bond on the murder charge, bond was set at $3,000 for the stolen vehicle charge.
The body of Milton A. Grumbling III was found Thursday in his 4464 Kincaid East Road N.W., Warren Township. Police said they are treating the discovery the 71-year-old man's body as a homicide.
