NEWTON FALLS - Sylvia V. Collier, 94, of Newton Falls, died peacefully on Saturday, April 5, 2013, at Laurie Ann Nursing Home.
She was born June 17, 1918, in Southington, the daughter of the late Clarence and Mary Harshman Viets.
She married the late Reid Collier on May 29, 1940.
She was a graduate of Chalker High School.
Mrs.Collier was a member of the Christ Memorial Baptist Church, SCOPE and the Golden Voyagers. She greatly enjoyed gardening and sewing.
Left to cherish her memory are three sons, Wade (Marcy) Collier of Lunenburg, Mass., Thomas (Nancy) Collier of Southington and Richard (Barbra) Collier of Warren; a daughter, Sue (Richard) Crawford of Newton Falls; along with eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Elva Cahill; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Reid Collier; and her parents, one grandson, three brothers and five sisters.
Services will be held at noon Tuesday at Carl W. Hall Funeral Home, where the Rev. David Luther will officiate. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Crown Hill Burial Park, Vienna.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that material contributions be made to the Christ Memorial Baptist Church, 2711 Youngstown Road, Warren, OH 44484, in her memory.
