Township police Lt. Don Bishop said at the time that evidence gathered at the house at led investigators to suspect foul play. He would not elaborate or speculate on how or when the man died.

Police were called to the house about 12:45 p.m. Thursday after a friend found Grumblings body on the living room floor.

The man had lived alone, but had been known to help disadvantaged individuals, especially youth, by taking them into his home for various periods of time, Bishop said. Investigators believe someone had been staying with him recently.
