MECCA - Adella Marie Gladd, 81, died Thursday, April 4, 2013, at Shepherd of the Valley in Howland after a short illness.
She was born Jan. 19, 1932, in Warren, the daughter of the late Harry and Pauline Procyk Bahrey.
Mrs. Gladd was a graduate of Warren G. Harding High School in Warren and was a homemaker. Her joy was her family and her flower gardening. Adella was a member of St. Robert's Bellarmine Roman Catholic Church in Cortland.
Survivors include her four children, Frank (Anna) Gladd, Thomas (Carole) Gladd and Timothy Gladd, all of Mecca, and JoAnn Gladd, a missionary in Montes Claros, Brazil; five grandchildren, Ashley, Hillary, Vanessa, Gabriel and Dan (Tara); and three great-grandchildren, Antonio, Logan and Ryan. Mrs. Gladd is also survived by two brothers, Michael (Fran) Bahrey of Warren and Kenneth (Dolly) Bahrey of Howland.
Other than her parents, Adella was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Gladd on April 10, 1992, whom she married Oct. 6, 1951; one brother; and three sisters.
A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Monday at the Lane Family Funeral Home, Shafer-Winans Chapel, in Cortland, where the Rev. Carl Kish will celebrate Adella's life. Family and friends may visit from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Gladd will be laid to rest in East Mecca Cemetery.
