BLOOMFIELD -- The suspect who shot himself in the head during a four-hour police standoff is still alive.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol said the man is being flown to a local hospital.
Troopers attempted to serve a misdemeanor warrant to a man who lives in a mobile home on Route 87, west of Route 45 and east of the Mesopotamia township line. The man answered the door with a firearm in hand and the situation escalated as he barricaded himself in his home, troopers took cover, an armored vehicle was brought in, a tactical response team took positions and nearby Bloomfield K-12 was locked down.
After four hours troopers reportedly sent in a robot and discovered the man had shot himself in the head.
