NEWTON FALLS - Peter G. Murri, 96, passed away Friday, March 15, 2013, at St. Joseph Health Center in Warren.
He was born Feb. 7, 1917, in Arnold, Pa., the son of Nicola and Maria Rossi Murri. He was a Newton Falls resident since 1955, coming from Arnold.
Peter was a 1936 graduate of Arnold High School and a World War II Army veteran.
On Nov. 30, 1945, Peter and Alma Michalski were united into marriage; she preceded him in death Nov. 5, 2007.
Peter was the publisher of the Newton Falls Herald from 1955 to 1985, and prior to this he was employed with the New Kensington Daily Dispatch for 27 years. In his spare time, Peter enjoyed bowling and golfing.
Memories of Peter will be cherished and carried on by his cousins, Patricia Rossi and Don Rossi, both of Arnold, and Carl DiTullio of Canfield.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Alma; and brother, Dominic.
There will be no visitation or services, and cremation has taken place.
Peter and Alma will be laid to rest in Union Cemetery in Arnold.
Arrangements entrusted to the Borowski Memorial Home in Newton Falls.
