McDONALD - Geraldine Rose Gonze Muckridge, 79, of McDonald, passed away at 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2013, from complications of colon, liver and lung cancer, at her daughter's home in Florida with family at her side.
Gerri was born March 20, 1933, in McDonald, Pa., and moved to McDonald, Ohio at the age of 4. She lived on Indiana Avenue in McDonald for 76 years.
She was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and Altar and Rosary. She graduated in 1951 from McDonald High School.

Gerri was employed by McDonald Steel and retired from Hills Department Store in 1994. In addition, she also worked for the elections board for 12 years.
She was an avid Ohio State fan and had a passion for children, and many children loved her as a grandmother.
She loved living in McDonald, Ohio, and had many fond memories and wonderful friends
Her husband, Jack Muckridge, passed away on March 26, 2011.
She leaves her daughter, Patty (Daniel) of DeLand, Fla.; her son, John (Colleen) of McDonald, Ohio; her grandchildren, John III (Nicole), Becky (Andrew) and Mary; and five great-grandchildren, Hope, Emma, Logan, Edward and Ethan, with two soon-to-be-born great-grandsons. She is survived by one brother, Eugene Gonze of McDonald, Ohio; two brothers-in-law, Bill (Joanne) Muckridge of Sunset Beach, N.C., and Dick (Jane) Muckridge of Niceville, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Leticia Pazor Gonze; her brothers, Richard and Victor; and sisters-in-law, Shirley and Ruth Gonze.
The family says she was blessed to be under the loving care of the staff of 2A Medical Oncology Unit at Florida Hospital DeLand and Florida Hospital Hospice. While delivering compassionate and competent care, they made a true difference in her life.
Even after death, she will continue to be a part of many lives.
Visitation for family and friends will be 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at McClurkin Funeral Home in Girard. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, McDonald, preceded by prayers at 9:15 a.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Girard City Cemetery.
Gerri requested material contributions be made in her name to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, McDonald, or to Florida Hospital DeLand in her memory because of the wonderful end of life care she received there.
