Daylan T. Ray 1997-2013

WARREN - Daylan T. Ray, 15, 2099 Milton St. S.E., passed away Sunday, March 10, 2013.

He was born Sept. 3, 1997, in Warren, the son of Derrick Ray and Lamana Owens Ray.

Daylan was in the eighth grade at Willard K-8 School. He was a student math tutor and former player of the Niles Little Red Dragons, where he played both offense and defense. Daylan was also a member of the Warren Athletic Club baseball team. He enjoyed basketball and listening to music, and his favorite foods included chicken and pizza.

Survivors include his parents; five brothers, Derrick Ray Jr., Carrington Monroe and Karlyn Ray, all of Marion, Iowa, and Brandon Nettles and Antonio Ray, both of Warren; five sisters, Kira (Kendall) Johnson of Akron, Marshia Owens, Avian Ray, TaMerrick Ray and Allazae Ray, all of Warren; two grandparents, Richard E. Owens and Flossie Watson, both of Warren; several nieces and nephews and a host of relatives.

He was preceded in death by a grandmother, Mary Owens; an aunt, Tracy Owens; a stepgrandmother, Josephine Owens; and a grandfather, Jimmy Ray.

Calling hours are from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at Greater Apostolic Faith Church in Warren, with Elder Phillip Shealey officiating. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m.

Burial will be in Pineview Memorial Park Cemetery.

Arrangements were handled by Sibley-Murray-Wellington Funeral Home in Alliance.
