Albert J. Konkol Jr. 1948-2013

NILES - Albert J. Konkol Jr., 65, passed away Sunday afternoon, March 3, 2013, at St. Elizabeth Health Center.

Albert was born Jan. 7, 1948, in Warren, a son of the late Albert J. Sr. and Lula Mae McFalls, and was a lifelong area resident.

Mr. Konkol graduated from Niles High School in 1967. After graduation, Mr. Konkol joined the U.S. Army, where he served in Vietnam and Germany for 10 years as a telecommunications operator.

Upon his discharge from the service, Mr. Konkol worked for Cleveland Steel Containers for 17 years, retiring as a laborer in the shipping and receiving department.

He was a member of Bible Baptist Temple in Campbell and enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading and watching NASCAR racing.

Albert is survived by his wife of 43 years, Nancy L. King, whom he married Aug. 28, 1970; his children, Albert J. III of Niles, Dawn (Ron) Martin of McDonald, Amanda (John) Madden of Niles and Danielle Konkol of Warren; 16 grandchildren; and two sisters, Carol Fife and Shirley Hodge, both of Niles..

Mr. Konkol was preceded in death by his parents and reunited with his grandson, Joseph.

Family and friends may call 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Robert P. McDermott Memorial Home, 614 Warren Ave. in Niles, where funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday.

Interment will follow at Niles City Cemetery.
