With spring just a few weeks away, the American Cancer Society is making plans to Paint the Town Purple in celebration of the annual Niles Relay For Life.
Volunteers have begun contacting area groups, churches, and businesses to encourage community members to form teams for the event. The Niles Relay traditionally kicks off the Relay season in Trumbull County each year.
Businesses and residents can show their support in the fight against cancer by decorating their property in purple for the week of April 7 to 12. Purple bows can be ordered for a suggested donation of $5 or a customized track sign for $25 and all proceeds will benefit the work of the American Cancer Society.
The Relay for Life event will be held at the Mayor Infante Wellness Center for a 24 hour period beginning at 6 p.m. April 12 running until 6 p.m. April 13.
During the event, teams and individuals will gather at the Wellness Center. The Relay will be held on the track with the goal of keeping at least one team member walking at all times throughout the evening. Teams do most of their fundraising prior to the event, but some teams also hold creative fundraisers at the event.
