WARREN -- The City of Warren was rejected for the latest round of the SAFER grant.
The rejection means the city will be forced to reduce the number of firefighters by up to 15. Earlier this year the city received an extension of the last grant. That extension ends in the last week of May.
No firefighters will be let go until that extension is complete. In the meantime, city officials are exploring ways to retain the firefighters.
