Ethel J. Barr 1933-2013

CHAMPION - Ethel J. Barr, 79, passed away peacefully Monday morning, Feb. 11, 2013, at St. Joseph Health Center in Warren.

The daughter of Quay and Ellen Carr Zuschlag, Ethel was born June 30, 1933, in West Salem Township, Mercer County, Pa.

On March 30, 1957, she married Eugene Barr, in Transfer, Pa., with whom she spent 55 wonderful years of marriage before her passing.

A graduate of Hickory High School, Ethel was a sales associate who worked at Westinghouse for two years and later Kmart for 17 years before her retirement in 1993.

Ethel was a member of the Champion Baptist Church. She liked to travel and enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, often reading, sewing and making crafts. Above all, she loved her family and the time she spent with them.

She will be sadly missed by her husband, Eugene Barr; her two sons, Michael (Darla) Barr of Champion and Brian Barr of Columbus; her two daughters, Linda Barr of Champion and Jennifer (Gordon) Sworthout of Jefferson; and her four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Robert Zuschlag, and her sister, Carol Vinski.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Janet Stevens.

In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. She will be laid to rest in Crown Hill Burial Park Mausoleum.

Arrangements were handled by Selby Funeral Home.

She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
