McDONALD - "It Takes A Village - The Jacob Sypert Benefit" will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Feb. 24 at the Reserve Banquet Center, the former Knights of Columbus Hall in McDonald.
The fundraiser will include a spaghetti dinner, Chinese auction, 50-50 drawing, face painting and a raffle to honor Jacob Sypert, 9, a student at Roosevelt Elementary School, who has been recently diagnosed with leukemia for the second time. Event organizers said the fundraiser will help offset the expenses of Sypert's medical treatments and his parents' travel expenses to and from Akron Children's Hospital.
Pre-sale tickets are available at $7 per adult, and $5 for children ages 5 to 12. Carry-out tickets can be pre-ordered at the pre-sale price by calling Kris at 330-727-7446 or Dini at 330-719-4635. Tickets at the door will be $8 and $10. Submit all donations and checks payable to Bill or Joy Sypert.
On Valentine's Day, Sypert is scheduled to receive what he and his family hopes is the treatment he needs to permanently shake the disease - a bone marrow transplant.
